In October 2015 Mr. Yanai was granted a Lifetime Achievement Award by CNBC, leading global broadcaster of live business and financial news and information, at its 14th Asia Business Leaders Award Ceremony. In 2014 UNIQLO was given the 2014 Retailer of the Year Award by the World Retail Congress, and Mr. Yanai was ranked among the Best Performing CEOs in the World in the November 2014 issue of the Harvard Business Review.


Born February 7, 1949 in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Mr. Yanai graduated from Tokyo’s Waseda University in March 1971 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Economics.
