Theme: China-Canada TVET Cooperation——Exploration and Practice
Time: October 20, 2017 (Friday) 13:00 - 17:30
Venue: Room 201AB
As technological advances draw the world more closely together, vocational preparedness becomes increasingly important. In an era of international cartels and free trade associations, “muddling through” no longer works. As China and Canada recalibrate their economic models to achieve more sustainable growth, both need to respond to the challenge of developing the requisite technical and scientific capabilities. Underlying the increasing pressure for new models of TVET provision are also the rapid pace of technological change, demand for a work force which is highly responsive to evolving marketplace needs and calls for advanced skills and lifelong learning.
This symposium will highlight trends and prospects in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and applied research with particular reference to achieving the greening of the economy; and also showcase a range of cooperation models and review the strengths and weaknesses of different forms of partnerships and financing. Lessons learned from recent and current experiences and their implications for future China-Canada TVET cooperation.
